SA8000 International Standard for Social Responsibility
Introduction
The SA8000 Social Responsibility System certification, as an international standard for ethical conduct, aims to ensure that companies comply with regulations regarding labor rights, human rights, the environment, and ethics throughout their production processes, thereby promoting sustainable development.
Purpose
The purpose of SA8000 is to provide an auditable, voluntary standard based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Labour Organization conventions, international human rights norms, and national labor laws. It aims to empower and protect all persons who provide goods or services to an organization within its management and sphere of influence, including employees and home workers employed by the organization itself, as well as those employed by its suppliers, subcontractors, and sub-suppliers. It is expected that organizations will comply with and implement this standard through appropriate and effective management systems.
